by buying local. Many of us have said we should buy local but fail to put the effort in to do it. Most of us have not taken the time or make the effort to find what we need in our own communities. All of us though expect our communities to fill our needs yet fail to support our businesses. We expect everything yet do not make the effort to even know what business has to offer us. One of the biggest problems we face is that we are not aware of what businesses and services are in our community. To add to the problem there has never been a directory to find what and where these businesses are. In today’s day of technology we can’t rely on phone books because they are only 6 months current and with cable phones we can’t even find sources in the white pages.
Buying local is much easier if the community collaborates and produces a web index of the services in the area. Once this happens and made easy for the consumer, buying local becomes easier. The rewards are passed back to the consumer by keeping every dollar spent reinvested into the community. We guarantee more local jobs and better services when shopping local and usually will save large amounts of money. With today’s gas prices a trip to plover to shop could add as much as $10 to the cost of the items. If you shop out of the area, the only money that stays in the community is what you spent to fill up your car before you left. On the other hand almost 90% of the money you spend locally is available for payrolls, overhead and reinvestment.
You have a chance to make a difference, a dollar at a time buy supporting your local businesses. Even your local businesses occasionally are missing the boat when it comes to making you aware of their offerings. When searching this site if by chance you cannot find what you are looking for then let those businesses know so they can get involved also. Most businesses want o help their customers but not all are savvy when it comes to the internet and engaging in an index program. Ask them to call and get on the list to BUY LOCAL!
